Starting of races
DEAR MEMBERS:
In the end, races can resume according to the information we have received from the Sailing Federation in relation to phase-3 of deconfinement while respecting the guidelines of Public Health. Next Sunday, July 12th, our first Sunday race will be held. As usual, the start will be at 1:00 pm and the captains’ meeting on the terraces at 12:00 pm. I encourage everyone to participate and let’s not forget (racers) that Sunday races are a great way for the less experienced to slowly enter the competition and improve sailing skills. A sheet will be posted on the club bulletin board so that volunteers can register their name as Race Committee using the boat.
However there will be no pre-assigned list of volunteers like last year given the rules of distancing that we have to follow.
For those who wish to organize a race using the boat, please let me know before race day so that everything can be ready. Should we have no volunteer for the committee boat, we now have an alternative solution, an automatic starting system that can be used.
Finally, the weekly races with BDYC will start as early as next week. On the other hand, the formula has now changed with BDYC. Due to budget cuts BDYC will no longer hire Race Officials. From now on the tasks will be shared between the two clubs using volunteers. In the next few days, we will determine how this will work.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
